What was once old can be new again but what is cool is cool and that doesn’t have to change with time.  If you are into living cool or being hip, or you just love the idea of “Vintage Vegas” then The Scotch 80s and McNeil Estates are where you want to go shopping for your Desert Modern home.

The Scotch 80s

In 1913, Peter Buol, our first Mayor, traveled to Scotland to find investors to develop and build homes on his 80-acre parcel of land in Las Vegas.  World War II significantly delayed the project until the 1950s, but when it did take off  “Scotch 80s” became the name of the community.   It’s close proximity to Downtown Las Vegas and The Strip made it a hit with celebrities, casino executives and other cool people.  Guess what? Today, it’s still a hit with the cool people!

Cool people then: Howard Hughes, Jerry Lewis and Oscar and Carolyn Goodman

Cool people now: Brandon Flowers (The Killers), Rehan Choudhry (Life is Beautiful), and Pasquale Rotella (Electric Daisy Carnival) and Holly Madison.

McNeil Estates

McNeil Estates is a classic vintage neighborhood in central Las Vegas.  McNeil Estates dates back to the 1940s but most of the current homes were built in the 1960s.  Large 1/2 acre lots and single-story ranch style homes are the main features of this vintage and incredibly charming Las Vegas neighborhood. These homes are as popular today as they were when first constructed!
