In the mid-1980s, on the western fringe of what was then Las Vegas, a planned community was developed to include a newly created man-made lake now known as Lone Mountain. The original development encompassed two square miles with Lone Mountain, ponds, and tributaries covering nearly 30 acres. Today, residents enjoy a wide selection of Lone Mountain, Las Vegas residences ranging from starter homes to multimillion-dollar estates.
As the boundary of the Las Vegas valley extends, Lone Mountain has become very popular for its convenient location and access to major roadways and The Strip.
For many, life around Lone Mountain, Las Vegas surrounds water sports and nature. As the largest body of water on the west side of Las Vegas, Lone Mountain attracts migratory birds that stop to rest and feed before continuing their cross-country journeys. Geese, swans, herons, ducks, seagulls, pelicans, and some eccentric “coots,” or mud hens, make Lone Mountain their temporary home each year.
